Entertainers
Introduction
Le Carrousel and Madame Arthur were truly global stages, where entertainers from all over the world showcased their talents. Many of these performers went on to achieve worldwide fame, thanks in part to the exposure they received at these iconic venues. From North and South America , Europe to Africa, and even Australia, Le Carrousel and Madame Arthur welcomed artists from all over of the globe.
Le Carrousel was not just confined to Parisian venues. From the late 1940s until the 1980s, the entertainment group toured all over the world, including North America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. These tours , like the one in Algeria , allowed artists like Bambi to discover Le Carrousel and achieve worldwide stardom. In addition to touring, Le Carrousel had longstanding engagements in Nice, Juan-les-Pins, Hamburg, Las Vegas, and even opened a second Madame Arthur in Amsterdam.
The first to open was Madame Arthur in 1946 and still operating today in the heart of Pigalle. The mood of Madame Arthur seemed to be comedic and carefree. The waiters would wear kilts, to mimic skirts, and makeup but no wigs. the Headliner was Maslowa , resembling Toulouse Lautrec's painting of Yves Guilbert, Maslowa was even dubbed "Madame Arthur". Le Carrousel opened a year later in 1947 with such a close proximity to the Champs Elysee, the Ambiance was high glamour. Zambella was one of the original cast members along with Mano, who worked on costumes, and Maxy, who was also credited as being one of the creators of Le Carrousel, along with Robert Lasquin who did just about everything else.
